About Us

The ITPE is an organization consisting of men and women of every race, religion and ethnic background, all of whom are dedicated to the improvement of their lives and of their families' lifestyles. They achieve those goals by uniting through the ITPE to gain the strength to negotiate the best possible collective bargaining agreements. It is this unity which allows them to earn a good day's pay and benefits in exchange for their good day's work.

By joining the ITPE, you will become a member of a Union which represents the largest number of Service Contract Act employees in this country and which, in addition, represents workers in a multitude of occupations in the private sector. You will join a family of workers who are protected by ITPE contracts throughout the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Guam.

The ITPE is dedicated to achieving the following goals:

  1. Get you the highest possible level of wages through collective bargaining with your employer.

  2. Negotiate to provide you with pension benefits and to provide you and your family with medical benefits through collective bargaining.

  3. Provide you, through collective bargaining, with protection against being fired at the employer's whim and with rights and protections based on your seniority.

  4. Provide you, through the collective bargaining agreement, with a grievance and arbitration process to protect your rights.

  5. Make available ITPE Representatives and on-site shop stewards to make sure your employer is complying with the bargaining agreement and to assist you in pursuing your grievance when it is not.

  6. Provide you with the strength of a collective voice during negotiations and at your work place.

  7. Provide you with the strength of a collective voice in the election of federal, state and community officials and in the legislative process.

  8. Organize the unorganized in order to make our collective voice louder and louder. In Union and in greater numbers, there truly is strength.

  9. Link with other unions through the AFL-CIO to pursue our common goals.
